JESSICA’S STORY

Jessica

I used to work at a multinational oil & gas company. I wasn’t fulfilled and wanted to go into entertainment.

I remember one time, my boss at work got really mad at me and said, “No reasonable person goes into entertainment. All actors are prostitutes and the industry is for failures. How will you live a better life? You should face your work, build a career and get married.”

I eventually resigned from my job. It wasn’t easy. Because movie money doesn’t come easy especially in the beginning, I was extremely broke. I had to get another job but I still wasn’t fulfilled, so I resigned again.

I decided to focus on my passion. The truth is I served. I did many things for free and learnt from different producers. I understood there was nothing wrong with working with or serving someone who’s living a picture of your dreams. People felt I had no sense and I lacked vision.

I remember producing my first short film, “Three peas in a pod”. It opened many doors for me. After this, I produced my first major movie called Clueless, directed by Desmond Elliot.

Nobody said life will ever be easy and I’m not saying everyone should quit their jobs to pursue passion, especially if they’re not being led to do so. But, I’m grateful for where I am today. I’m a producer, an actor and a business woman.
